🏆 INTRODUCING THE TROPHY ROOM! 🏆 Unlock Music Trophies in Now Playing...
Now Playing: Stats & Scrobble has always been designed to provide an effortless, universal music tracking experience out of the box. Whether you are spinning tracks on Spotify, digging through Apple Music, or watching live sets on YouTube, our engine automatically logs your history, cleans up the messy metadata, and scrobbles everything straight to Last.fm.
But we know that music geeks, audiophiles, and data perfectionists often have highly specific setups and listening habits. Sometimes, "automatic" just isn't enough. You want absolute control over what gets tracked, how it gets cleaned, and exactly when it gets logged.
With our latest update, we are thrilled to introduce the brand new Advanced settings menu. Tucked away in the "Danger Zone" of your app settings, this new suite of tools allows power users to get under the hood and tweak every aspect of the detection engine.
Here is a look at what you can do with the new Advanced settings.
We officially support a massive list of popular streaming services, but the Android audio ecosystem is vast. What if you use a dedicated offline local media player like Musicolet, Poweramp, or Symfonium, a niche regional streaming service, or a specialized audio app?
With Additional detection sources, you are no longer limited to our officially supported list. You can now browse a list of audio apps installed on your device and manually add them to the detection engine.
The best part? Every custom source you add still gets passed through our best-in-class automated metadata cleaning engine, ensuring your local library and niche apps keep your universal stats and Last.fm profile completely pristine.
Our automatic cleaning logic strips out video tags, remaster years, and junk formatting so you don't have to. However, if you have a highly customized local library or listen to obscure formats, you might need a more tailored approach.
You can now define your own Custom title regex and Custom artist regex rules. Write your own regular expressions to scrub unwanted text or target specific patterns from track titles and artist names.
If you are a true perfectionist, you can even toggle "Replace default rules" to completely bypass Now Playing's built-in cleaning logic and rely solely on your custom regex rules. Your music, your rules.
Every listener is different, and now the Now Playing engine can be customized to match your exact habits. The Advanced settings menu exposes the core parameters of our detection engine, allowing you to tweak:
Track Filtering: Set the minimum track duration required before a song is logged, adjust the resume grace period for paused tracks, and define maximum ad durations.
Custom Ad Keywords: Block unwanted audio by adding custom keywords that instantly flag tracks as advertisements.
Debounce Delays: Control the exact millisecond delays for when the app logs new songs, registers pauses/stops, or waits for passive background listeners like Shazam.
Repeat Thresholds: Decide exactly what constitutes a "repeat" by adjusting the required track duration percentage and maximum active time limits.
Scrobble Settings: Adjust how often the background worker sends your history to Last.fm and configure delay buffers.
Note: Tinkering here can break music detection if configured incorrectly, but don't worry—there is always a quick "Reset to defaults" option in the menu if you get carried away!
As always, absolute control also means absolute privacy. We believe your music data belongs to you.
No Accounts Required: You don't need to link an account or sign in to use these advanced features.
Offline-First: All of your stats, history, custom rules, and achievements are generated and stored locally on your device.
Completely Ad-Free: Enjoy tweaking your app without any intrusive advertisements breaking your focus.
Now Playing: Stats & Scrobble is available now on the Google Play Store. Download the latest update today and build the ultimate, personalized music tracker.
